OK, I'm gonna be blunt with you... there was no Academy of Pet Photographers that decreed this award. This wasn't based on merit. Nor was it based on how many clients or sales or anything else except for your votes. I'm not disparaging the contest because it's kind of thrilling to have won. But if you're asking, yes, it's kind of a popularity contest. The one who has the biggest network and can rally that network to vote takes home the top prize. This year, it's me. And I thank my loyal network, you guys are amazing.
I'm not embarrassed because take a look at my website... it's solid work and I stand behind it 150 percent. I love photographing dogs and cats and I think my love for the animals shows in the humor, dignity, and soul of my modern pet portraiture.
And even though I'm a realist about the contest, this year, I'm happy to say I'm the best pet photographer in Los Angeles, at least according to L.A. City Voter and the L.A. Hot List. And thank you, thank you, thank you!
I feel like retiring now.
