It's a year to the day that we adopted Kiwi and Mango, the Gentlemen House Cats.

They have been spectacular boys... bringing joy, amusement, bemusement, and internecine squabbles to our house.

To recap, Kiwi is a tuxedo who was picked up as a stray. He was incarcerated in the East Valley Animal Shelter in Van Nuys for about a week before we got him.

Mango was an owner surrender who was in the same pound for about a month. As a black, older cat (read: non-kitten) his chances of adoption weren't that good but the volunteer said they keep owner surrenders a little longer when they can. She also said they would be best friends in a year -- that's a no -- and that Kiwi was the submissive one -- that's a hard no.

Mango is the more serious of the two, Kiwi is an absolute clown.

They both have their charms and we love them both. Happy anniversary, boys! Happy to have you!
